We’re partnering with She Has a Name to end lives of poverty-based child prostitution and begin lives of hope one story at a time. The event is called traffic!
Hard work for little or no pay is the plight of trafficked laborers, and that’s what we’re going to do all day Saturday, 23 March. We’ll do a full day of unpaid work landscaping homes in Monrovia whose owners need some help, and packing food boxes for the Foothill Unity Center, a local Christian food bank. We’re asking you to give to support our work project. All proceeds will go to She Has a Name to sponsor girls like Florah out of lives they could never escape on their own. Track down a Youth and offer to support their work project or give online right now by clicking the donate button. If you’re supporting a youth from one of our churches, please choose the name of the appropriate church in the dropdown menu.
Home to 500,000 people, the collection of shantytowns that make up Mathare, located in Nairobi, Kenya make it one of the largest shantytowns in the world. She Has a Name sponsors girls out of subsistence prostitution, placing them into a program of Christian discipleship and life and vocational training that moves them towards sustainable good. We’re working to raise a minimum of $3,500 this year so that we can completely sponsor a transformed life.
And the King will say, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’” | Matthew 25:40
Imagine making just enough each day to survive. No matter how much you want your life to change, when your primary concerns are for food, clothes, and a place to live, a different life can seem impossible. She Has a Name provides those basic necessities so that they can provide something even more: the time and space for girls to leave their old lives, grow as disciples in Christ, and develop different options than they’ve ever had before. We’re raising more than living expenses; we’re raising the cost of a transformed life
Sunday, 24 March we’ll be auctioning off Youth in teams to do four hours of work on any safe work project you need done. Lawns mowed. Bathrooms cleaned. Rocks moved. Please plan to join us and do your part to drive up the bidding.
